"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul."

How can this money be used to protect open space and create recreational opportunities?
The money can be used to preserve land, restore degraded habitat, create ball fields and parks.  For example, CPA money could be used to create a park by the Berkley Bridge.

What kinds of historic projects could be funded?  Community Preservation money can be used to restore historic buildings or artifacts.  For example, the historic parks in North Dighton could be restored to their former glory.

What kinds of community housing projects could be funded?
Towns have used CPA funds in a variety of ways to create more affordable housing.  For example, Stow has used CPA money to purchase affordability restrictions from seniors.  This allowed seniors to stay in their homes while ensuring affordable housing in the future.  Other towns have given grants to seniors to make improvements to their homes so that they could stay in them.  These changes include wheel chair ramps, guide bars and other accessibility improvements.
